So how does a lawyer with a library degree become a web designer? Can someone with so much education possibly still have a creative bone in their body?
Lawyers help clients deal with problems big and small. Lawyers promote effective communication for their clients. Lawyers translate between professional jargon and English. Since these are also all the responsibilities of a dedicated web designer, law school really served as my first training ground. In library school, I realized that instead of working in the more contentious world of law, depositions and trials, I could provide similar assistance in a more artistic, cooperative field. My library science experience also allows me to organize your information so that your audience understands you and your message.
As your web designer, I will guide you through decisions both artistic and technical, resulting in a beautiful, professional, functional web site. My ten plus years of legal and professional experience will help to ensure that your new site communicates with your target audience and achieves your business goals.
Jess’ technical skills include: XHTML, CSS, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Blog/CM platforms (WordPress, Movable Type and b2evolution), Javascript, Flash and more. Her educational background includes a BS from Cornell University (1993), a JD from Boston University (1996) and a MS from Simmons School of Library and Information Science (2000).
